The Road to Election with Paul Rundquist Lecture and Stream

On May 3, 2024 DAIS hosted Prof. Paul S. Rundquist for a lecture on the upcoming U.S. elections as part of the Road to Election initiative. The lecture was set up as a hybrid event: Paul Rundquist was joined by DAIS and TSS fellows in person, and the lecture was streamed on YouTube, allowing anyone to watch and ask questions as well.

Paul Rundquist explained a number of issues that could impact the U.S. elections like population shifts, immigration, the economy, and the recent waves of protests in the United States regarding the war in Gaza. Additionally, he focused on senate elections in the states of Pennsylvania and New York. This provided the TSS fellows with some political context as they will head there September 2024. Following the lecture, participants were able to ask questions covering topics such as election interference and the concept of the empathy wall.

This event was funded by the Federal Foreign Office, the Saxon State Chancellery, and the U.S. Embassy in Berlin.
