A romantic comedy-drama about Claudine, a single black mother of six from Harlem on welfare, and garbage collector Roop. At the height of blaxploitation, this film is credited with showing a new dimension of black cinema.

This screening marks the second in the series New Hollywood: Dreams, Nightmares, and Revolution. The series is a collaboration between Leipzig University Library, the Institute for American Studies, and the German-American Institute Saxony.
