The Institute for American Studies Leipzig invites you to a (bilingual) panel discussion on “250 Jahre Amerikanische Unabhängigkeitserklärung – Der aktuelle Streit um die Geschichte in den USA”

June 17th, 2026, 6pm, at Stadtbibliothek Leipzig (Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz 10-11).

The discussion features Megan Maruschke, Juniorprofessor of Global Studies at Leipzig University, Dr. Andreas Etges, Research Fellow at the Amerika-Institut of Munich University, and Manfred Berg, Professor of American History at Heidelberg University.

Together, they will examine how the American past is currently being reinterpreted and contested in politics, education, media, and public culture.
