Special Episode: »What Free Speech means Today« w/ Ira Glasser
This special episode of The Atlantic Hour features a conversation with Ira Glasser, the former director of the ACLU. Ira Glasser is one of America’s unsung champions of civil rights and liberties. As the leader of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) for 23 years, he transformed the organization from a small, »mom-and-pop« operation on the verge of bankruptcy into a civil liberties juggernaut with offices in every state and a $30 million endowment.
The conversation took place as part of the film screening of »Mighty Ira: A Civil Liberties Story«, a 2020 documentary about the life and work of Ira Glasser. After a short warm-up conversation with DAI Sachsen Executive Director Eric W. Fraunholz and Deputy Executive Director Erica Larson Bautze, Ira Glasser answered questions by students who attended the film screening. The event was hosted by DAI Sachsen on April 16.
