Herbert Quelle takes us on a fascinating journey to trace the origins of an instrument invented 200 years ago in the German-speaking world, which has been widely popular in the United States since 1865 and seems to have found its true calling in the Blues.
He views the history of the instrument as a unique symbiosis of tangible German cultural heritage and intangible American cultural heritage, which is globally significant and enduring. He has incorporated scientifically researched archival material into his novels Monika's Blues and Kein falscher Zungenschlag - Black Music Matters, which are not only entertaining and informative for harmonica enthusiasts.
