At the onset of the 2020s, historical parallels to the 1920s enjoy increased prominence in societal discourse–both in the US as well as in Europe. Will we live to see an equally  tumultuous decade similar to  the Roaring Twenties from a hundred years ago? The scale and scope of disruption already reached by the summer of 2022 came unexpected to most of us and can be called historical from multiple perspectives.

The Roaring 20s lecture series connects students and faculty from Texas and Saxony to explore these issues in greater depth. This project is driven by the belief that exchanging perspectives in a multidisciplinary and transregional manner facilitates a greater and more nuanced understanding of societal changes and offers a collaborative structure to tackle the ensuing challenges together.
