How can we explain the rise of antisemitism, particularly after October 7? Why are American flags being burned at demonstrations? What is the connection between antisemitism and anti-Americanism? Alexandra Bandl and Russell Berman will discuss these questions and more.
Russell Berman is the Walter A. Haas Professor of the Humanities at Stanford University, a Professor of Comparative Literature, and a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution. He is the editor emeritus of the quarterly journal Telos and has served as a Senior Advisor on the Policy Planning Staff of the U.S. State Department. He has published extensively on anti-Americanism and antisemitism.
Alexandra Bandl is a historian specializing in Eastern European Jewish history. She has worked as an educator in antisemitism prevention, training hundreds of Saxon teachers, the German Bundeswehr, and the German Federal Police. She is also a board member of the Jewish organization TaMaR Germany.
